Latest Safaricom Fuliza Charges

Fuliza is a credit facility that allows you to borrow up to Ksh. 100,000 to top up your M-PESA account when you have insufficient funds. The charges for using Fuliza are as follows:

  • Access fee: A one-off 1% access fee is charged when you use Fuliza for the first time. This fee is waived for subsequent transactions.
  • Daily maintenance fee: A daily maintenance fee is charged for each day that the borrowed amount remains outstanding. The daily maintenance fee is as follows:
    • For amounts between Ksh. 1 and Ksh. 100, the daily maintenance fee is Ksh. 0.00.
    • For amounts between Ksh. 101 and Ksh. 500, the daily maintenance fee is Ksh. 5.00. The first three days are free. After that, the daily maintenance fee is Ksh. 2.50.
    • For amounts between Ksh. 501 and Ksh. 1000, the daily maintenance fee is Ksh. 10.00. The first three days are free. After that, the daily maintenance fee is Ksh. 5.00.
    • For amounts above Ksh. 1000, the daily maintenance fee is Ksh. 30.00. The first three days are free. After that, the daily maintenance fee is Ksh. 25.00.
  • Interest: Interest is charged on the borrowed amount at a rate of 14% per annum. Interest is charged daily and is added to the outstanding balance.
  • Excise duty: An excise duty of 20% is charged on the access fee and the daily maintenance fee.

For example, if you borrow Ksh. 500 using Fuliza, you will be charged a one-off access fee of Ksh. 5.00, a daily maintenance fee of Ksh. 2.50 for the first three days, and a daily maintenance fee of Ksh. 5.00 after that. You will also be charged interest on the borrowed amount at a rate of 14% per annum.

You can repay your Fuliza loan at any time by topping up your M-PESA account. You can also choose to repay the loan in installments. If you repay the loan in full within the first three days, you will not be charged any daily maintenance fees.
